PATRIOTS!!!

We've been busy collecting good news...

1. Overheard in the hallway just after an AP exam (last week): (said to a student who was crying) "Girl, you are not your grade! GIRL. You are NOT YOUR GRADE!"

I know it was a simple little statement, but if you've ever been in school at any level, you know how it feels to feel like you're almost at the end, but you're terrified that you didn't make the grade you were hoping for. It means the world to get encouragement, but you could tell it was especially important to the girl who was on the receiving end to hear it from a PEER. They were laughing as they continued on to class.

2. A couple of weeks ago, the drumline led us in celebrating our Special Olympians-- we have some amazing students in this school!!

3. One of my favorite things about Heritage is the fact that we are PACKED with creatives. These students from Rojas's ceramics class are working on a special surprise project for the seniors from Miss Jenny-- she can't WAIT to share this project, and you will LOVE it when you hear about it!!!

Miss Jenny!

Look around you-- there are amazing things happening all the time!

So...

Heritage High School is a pretty amazing place.

You should know-- you're why it's so great.

I wanted to do an experiment... what if we created a place where we could brag on you, where we could brag on each other, and where we could talk about the amazing things that happen at Heritage every day? What would happen if we started talking about all of the good things happening around us all the time?

Because, let's face it...you guys are kind of a big deal.

:)

So here's what I want you to do-- we're just getting started, so I need some folks who will bring me stories about good stuff they know about. If your friend bought someone else lunch (if your friend is ALWAYS buying someone else lunch!), come tell me. Let's brag on him.

If Mrs. Jenny made your day because she gave you a granola bar, come tell me. Let's brag on her.

If you would have DEFINITELY been late to third period if it hadn't been for Mr. Ryan yelling out the time, come tell me. Did you take pictures? Send them to me!

Our community is made up of so many people-- teachers, students, custodians, cafeteria workers, administrators, media specialists, paraprofessionals, interns... let's look for good news everywhere!

Did you know...

Did you know that Mr. Price has a little box in his room that you can drop a prayer request in? He'll pray for you if you ask him to.

Did you know that Mrs. Duke makes snacks for her class every Friday?

Did you know that Bo Benson (10th grade) has been taking flying lessons since he was 15? He wants to be a pilot and is doing whatever it takes to make that dream happen.

I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of this little experiment!
TELL ME THE GOOD NEWS!!!
